Nagano · Japan

Hakuba Valley. One valley, ten resorts.

Japanese Alps, varied terrain and a ski trip that pairs naturally with Tokyo and Kyoto.

Colorado curation

Happo-One, Goryu, Hakuba 47, Tsugaike and other areas add variety. Your base and inter-resort transport require planning.

Colorado's view

Ten resorts, many ways to ski

Hakuba is for travellers who enjoy changing mountains. Its ten distinct ski resorts range from progressive pistes to more demanding terrain. They are not one continuous lift network: moving between resorts requires transport and planning.

Its Tokyo–Nagano access makes it easy to add city and cultural days. Staying near the resort you expect to use most helps avoid daily transfers.

The mountain

A mountain for your pace.

  • Happo-One. The valley's sporting reference, with longer descents, vertical drop and sweeping Japanese Alps views.
  • Goryu e Hakuba 47. Linked areas for varied days without changing bases, blending prepared pistes and livelier terrain.
  • Tsugaike. Broad terrain and learning areas make this appealing for families and progression.
  • Iwatake e Cortina. Iwatake stands out for views and atmosphere; Cortina is known for snow and wooded terrain when conditions allow.
