Colorado Experience — Snow since 2012

La Rosière and La Thuile work best when the international crossing is treated as part of the experience, not simply extra mileage. The French side is sunny, welcoming and comfortable for families; Italy brings steeper pistes, woodland skiing and a mountain lunch that changes the entire day.

Choosing the base

French ease
or Italian
rhythm.

Centre and Les Eucherts make family logistics simple on the French side. La Thuile suits travellers who place greater weight on Italian village life, gastronomy and more demanding terrain.

Where to stay

The base defines
the journey.

01

La Rosière Centre

The traditional and practical heart of the French side, close to shops, restaurants, lessons and the main snow front.

02

Les Eucherts

A newer ski-in/ski-out sector with family facilities, residences, spa hotels and quick access towards the international link.

03

Club Med La Rosière · 1,950 m

All-inclusive convenience, children’s clubs, ski-in/ski-out access and an Exclusive Collection space above the valley.

04

La Thuile · Italy

A more Italian village experience, strong gastronomy and steeper woodland terrain. It is a compelling base, but creates a different holiday rhythm.

La Thuile · Italia

Cross the border.
Change the
atmosphere.

A day towards La Thuile should begin early. Enjoy the Italian pistes and lunch, but monitor wind and the final lift times: returning by road is long when the ski link closes.

Train to the valley.
Transfer to
the snow.

Bourg-Saint-Maurice is the most useful rail gateway for La Rosière. Geneva and Lyon work well for international flights; private transfer is particularly valuable for families, luggage and winter road conditions.

Practical questions

Before crossing
the border.

Can I ski from France to Italy?+

Yes, when the Espace San Bernardo link is operating. Weather and wind can affect the Petit-Saint-Bernard crossing, so the return time must be respected.

Is La Rosière good for families?+

Yes. The French side is sunny, welcoming and certified Famille Plus, with convenient learning areas and strong family accommodation.

Which side has the best skiing?+

La Rosière offers sunny, progressive terrain; La Thuile adds steeper pistes, woodland skiing and a more Italian atmosphere. The combination is the destination’s strength.

How do I get there?+

Geneva and Lyon are the principal international gateways. Bourg-Saint-Maurice is the nearest major railway station, followed by roughly 35–45 minutes by road in normal winter conditions.

How long should I stay?+

Seven nights are ideal for exploring both countries without turning the international crossing into a daily obligation.
