Families, couples, mixed-ability skiers and non-skiers who want to experience the mountains beyond the pistes.

Switzerland · Grindelwald & Jungfrau
A complete Grindelwald and Jungfrau Region guide: three ski areas, four bases, Jungfraujoch, access and selected hotels.
Colorado curation
Grindelwald, Wengen and Mürren combine 211 km of pistes beneath the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Colorado matches the village, hotel and daily mountain to each journey — with Interlaken as gateway and extension.
Families, couples, mixed-ability skiers and non-skiers who want to experience the mountains beyond the pistes.
Grindelwald–Wengen, Grindelwald–First and Mürren–Schilthorn in one region.
Grindelwald for convenience; car-free Wengen and Mürren; Interlaken for wider itineraries.
The Colorado perspective
Grindelwald sits beneath the Eiger in one of Switzerland's most recognisable landscapes. Together with Wengen and Mürren, it opens a winter region that balances serious skiing, mountain railways, car-free villages and experiences for every generation.
Interlaken completes the journey as the gateway between Lakes Thun and Brienz — valuable for touring and excursions, but not a substitute for a mountain base when skiing is the priority.
Mountain profile
Current official reference data. Piste and lift availability always depends on snow, weather and operating dates.

The ski areas
Choosing a base
There is no single best address. The right village depends on skiing priorities, family profile, desired atmosphere and the wider Swiss itinerary. Colorado compares hotel location with the most likely daily mountain access before recommending a base.

Where to stay
The most complete base for a snow-focused journey: direct access to First and fast connections to the Eiger Express, restaurants, shops and the broadest hotel selection.
Car-free, traditional and positioned above Lauterbrunnen. Ideal for families and travellers who value a true Alpine village and direct access to the Grindelwald–Wengen area.
Small, car-free and spectacularly located. Best for a quieter stay, confident skiers and travellers who want to wake up already inside the Schilthorn sector.
The gateway between two lakes, with more urban hotels, restaurants and easy rail connections. Excellent for touring Switzerland, but less convenient for skiing every day.
Colorado hotel selection
Categories and seasonal operation should be reconfirmed for the travel dates. The best hotel is the one that aligns comfort with the right station, gondola and village rhythm.
A classic grand-hotel address near the station, with spacious accommodation, wellness and a strong fit for couples and families seeking traditional service.
The region's landmark luxury hotel, with an extensive spa and resort facilities. Best when Interlaken is part of a broader Swiss itinerary rather than a pure ski week.
Contemporary Alpine design, central location, spa and a strong gastronomic identity for couples and style-conscious families.
Intimate, design-led and highly regarded for dining, with impressive Eiger views and a quieter position close to Grindelwald Terminal.
A family-run classic with panoramic rooms, wellness facilities and practical access to the station and village centre.
Directly opposite the First gondola, with generous facilities and convenient logistics for families and groups.
Beside Grindelwald station, making rail arrivals and daily movement particularly straightforward.
A warm, traditional option slightly above the centre, combining tranquillity, views and good value.
Central and uncomplicated, close to restaurants, shops and the First gondola.
A historic, family-run chalet hotel with character, hospitality and beautiful mountain views.
Beyond skiing
The Eiger Express reaches Eigergletscher in 15 minutes, while the historic mountain railways connect Grindelwald, Wengen, Kleine Scheidegg and Lauterbrunnen. Jungfraujoch at 3,454 metres, winter walks, sledging and a day between Interlaken's lakes enrich the itinerary for skiers and non-skiers alike.

Practical questions
No. Interlaken is the principal transport gateway and an excellent touring base, but the ski areas are in Grindelwald, Wengen and Mürren. For daily skiing, staying in one of the mountain villages is more efficient.
The Grindelwald–Wengen sector links the Eiger, Kleine Scheidegg, Männlichen and Wengen. First and Mürren–Schilthorn are separate and require rail, bus or gondola transfers.
Six or seven nights suit a complete ski journey. Four or five nights can work when combining Grindelwald with Interlaken, Lucerne, Zurich or another Swiss region.
It is a separate mountain excursion and ticket conditions vary. Colorado plans it for the clearest day and checks the best pass or supplement for the chosen itinerary.
Your Jungfrau journey
Colorado can arrange flights, scenic rail or private transfers, the ideal hotel base, ski passes, lessons, equipment, insurance, Jungfraujoch reservations and a wider journey through Switzerland.
