Beaver Creek. The family mountain.

A complete Beaver Creek guide: learning areas, terrain for every level, three bases, selected hotels and the after-ski cookie tradition.

Colorado curation

With 2,082 acres, three progressive learning areas and a compact village, Beaver Creek combines an easy family routine, attentive service and genuinely advanced terrain.

The Colorado perspective

A mountain designed
around the
family day.

Beaver Creek combines attentive service, a compact pedestrian village and one of the most complete learning structures in Colorado. It makes the first snow trip feel organised without making experienced skiers compromise on terrain.

The family experience is in the details: easy meeting points, excellent grooming, an ice rink in the village and warm cookies waiting at 3 pm after the ski day.

How the mountain works

Progression for children.
Real terrain for adults.

01

Confidence from the first turn

Haymeadow, Red Buffalo & McCoy Park

Three progressive learning zones make the mountain unusually intuitive for children and first-time skiers. Haymeadow sits by the village, Red Buffalo adds gentle summit terrain and McCoy Park brings 250 acres of beginner and intermediate groomed glades.

02

The family’s shared mountain

Centennial, Rose Bowl & Larkspur

Long groomed runs and varied intermediate terrain let different generations ski together without reducing the experience to a small beginner area.

03

Serious terrain for strong skiers

Grouse Mountain & Birds of Prey

Steeps, moguls and the legendary World Cup course give advanced skiers a technical counterpoint to Beaver Creek’s polished family image.

The family signature

Cookies at three.
A Beaver Creek ritual.

Every afternoon during the ski season, chefs bring trays of warm chocolate-chip cookies to Beaver Creek Village. Cookie Time welcomes adults too, but for children it often becomes the memory that defines the end of each ski day.

Why it works

Everyone progresses.

  • McCoy Park with 250 acres and 17 beginner and intermediate trails.
  • Grouse Mountain and Birds of Prey for the strongest skiers in the family.

Choosing a base

Village convenience
or private luxury?

Beaver Creek is formed by three connected bases. For a first family trip, the main village usually offers the simplest routine; Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead prioritise privacy and residential comfort.

Practical questions

Planning a smooth
family week.

Is Beaver Creek really a family mountain?+

Yes. Its compact village, strong ski school and three progressive learning areas are major advantages. The mountain also has enough intermediate and advanced terrain to keep parents and experienced skiers engaged.

Do they still hand out cookies after skiing?+

Yes. Cookie Time is scheduled daily at 3 pm during the ski season in Beaver Creek Village. Warm chocolate-chip cookies are offered to guests of all ages; operating details should be reconfirmed for the travel dates.

Beaver Creek or Vail with children?+

Beaver Creek is more compact, calm and guided around the family routine. Vail offers a much larger mountain and broader village life, but requires more planning and walking.

Can snowboarders ride at Beaver Creek?+

Yes. Skiers and snowboarders are welcome throughout the resort, subject to normal terrain and operating conditions.

Do I need a car?+

Usually not. The villages are served by local transport and airport transfers are simpler than parking and winter driving.

Which airport should I use?+

Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) is approximately 45 km away. Denver International Airport (DEN), about 215 km away, generally offers more flight options.
