The mountain

From forests to Aiguille Rouge.

  • 200 km across Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry, with 425 km available in Paradiski.
  • Broad, flowing terrain particularly strong for intermediates and mixed-ability groups.

Where to stay

Five bases.
Five different journeys.

01

Arc 1600

The original, wooded and calmer base. Direct funicular access from Bourg-Saint-Maurice makes it especially efficient for train journeys.

02

Arc 1800

The largest and liveliest base, with several neighbourhoods, restaurants, après-ski and the widest range of apartments and services.

03

Arc 1950

A polished, car-free ski-in/ski-out village with attractive architecture, family convenience and premium residences.

04

Arc 2000

High-altitude, snow-focused and highly practical. A strong base for Aiguille Rouge and travellers who put skiing first.

05

Peisey-Vallandry

A quieter, wooded and more traditional base between Les Arcs and the Vanoise Express. Particularly strong for families and intermediate skiers.

Peisey-Vallandry

The quiet side
of Paradiski.

Peisey-Vallandry combines Alpine villages, tree-lined slopes and a central position beside the Vanoise Express. It is exceptionally comfortable for families, intermediates and travellers who prefer charm and calm over a large resort centre.

Paradiski

Crossing to
La Plagne.

The Vanoise Express links Peisey-Vallandry to La Plagne. The crossing is worthwhile for confident skiers who start early and control return times; it should be an intentional day rather than an automatic daily routine.

Practical questions

Before choosing
your village.

Should I stay in Les Arcs or Peisey-Vallandry?+

Choose Les Arcs for high-altitude efficiency, more services and a broader range of accommodation. Choose Peisey-Vallandry for woodland skiing, calm, Alpine character and easy access to the Vanoise Express.

Is it suitable for families?+

Yes. Arc 1950 and Peisey-Vallandry are particularly convenient, while the whole area offers progressive terrain and ski schools. The lesson meeting point should guide the exact accommodation choice.

Is the Paradiski pass worthwhile?+

For confident intermediates and advanced skiers staying a full week, usually yes. Beginners and families may prefer local passes on some days rather than crossing to La Plagne every day.

How do I get there?+

Geneva and Lyon are the main international gateways. Bourg-Saint-Maurice is the rail hub: the funicular reaches Arc 1600, while road transfers continue to the other bases and Peisey-Vallandry.

How long should I stay?+

Seven nights are ideal for understanding the different Les Arcs sectors and adding at least one Paradiski day towards La Plagne.

Personally experienced · Colorado expertise

Fabrício's perspective.

Colorado Experience — Snow since 2012

Peisey-Vallandry is one of my favourite Paradiski bases for families and intermediate skiers: it is calm, wooded and exceptionally well positioned beside the Vanoise Express. Les Arcs adds high-altitude bases and highly varied terrain; choosing between 1600, 1800, 1950, 2000 and Peisey completely changes the daily rhythm.
