Switzerland · Verbier

A vast mountain. Endless energy.

A complete Verbier guide: the 4 Vallées sectors, village, access and a curated selection of 3-, 4- and 5-star hotels.

Colorado curation

Verbier is the most cosmopolitan gateway to the 4 Vallées, Switzerland's largest fully domestic ski area: 410 km of pistes, 80 lifts and a highest point of 3,330 metres.

01

Who it suits

Confident intermediates, advanced skiers, freeriders and travellers who enjoy a lively village.

02

The mountain

Verbier, Savoleyres, Bruson, Mont Fort and long crossings through the 4 Vallées.

03

The village

Cosmopolitan, spread out and social, with Médran as the principal ski access point.

The Colorado perspective

Big mountain.
Lively village.

Verbier is one of the Alps' defining ski destinations: vast terrain, serious freeride, a cosmopolitan village and a social scene that continues long after the lifts close.

Its size is an asset only with good planning. Ability, hotel location, pass type and daily route should be aligned before the trip.

The sectors

Many ways to ski Verbier.

01

Médran · Les Ruinettes · Attelas

The heart of Verbier's lift network, with fast access from the village, broad pistes and connections towards the high mountain.

02

Mont Fort · Gentianes

The domain's high-altitude signature: glacier scenery, challenging terrain and a summit panorama at 3,330 metres.

03

Savoleyres · La Tzoumaz

Sunny, more approachable terrain, valued by families and intermediates, with descents on both sides of the mountain.

04

Bruson

A quieter sector reached through Le Châble, known for trees, powder days and a more local atmosphere.

05

The 4 Vallées crossing

Long ski days towards Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon. Route planning, ability and lift-closing times matter.

The village

Médran,
centre or Savoleyres?

Staying by Médran makes the ski day easier. The centre places restaurants, bars and shops at the doorstep. Savoleyres is quieter and works well for families, while the free bus network connects the spread-out village.

Practical questions

Before booking
Verbier.

Is Verbier only for advanced skiers?+

No, but its international reputation comes from advanced terrain and freeride. Beginners and intermediates need thoughtful sector selection, lessons and daily planning.

Do I need the full 4 Vallées pass?+

It makes sense for confident skiers planning long crossings. Travellers staying mostly around Verbier, Savoleyres or Bruson may not need it every day.

Where should I stay in the village?+

Médran is best for lift convenience. The centre favours restaurants and nightlife. Savoleyres is quieter, while properties farther out rely more on the free shuttle.

How do I reach Verbier?+

Geneva (GVA) is the main airport. The train to Le Châble takes around 2h40, followed by a 20-minute gondola or bus. A private winter transfer usually takes about 1h50–2h30.

How many nights should I stay?+

Six to eight nights allow time for the main sectors, a 4 Vallées crossing and weather flexibility.
